Hi there. My name is Peter Brinkhuis and I’m from The Netherlands. I have created this blog as a way to share and improve my and other people’s knowledge about SolidWorks. I want this to be a site where you can point your colleagues to and I want you to learn something new every time you visit.
How I spend my days
I used to work as an engineer in the field of mechatronics to become a full-fledged system architect. Mechatronics basically means I can combine mechanical and electrical engineering and know a thing or two about software. I worked at VIRO and Imotec where I did internal and external projects that varied from knee replacement surgery instruments to tensioners for underwater pipe laying.
In 2017, I started my own company CAD Booster to develop software that helps engineers save precious time and prevent them from doing the same tasks over and over again. Many hours will be saved by our add-ins for SolidWorks, the first of which will help you create drawings faster.
New blog posts will not appear on this site, but on the CAD Booster blog.
Why SolidWorks?
I started using SolidWorks at my first internship in 2006 and I’ve been using it ever since. It is an awesome piece of software that keeps getting better, but some of its features and behaviors can be a pain to work with. That is when experience comes in handy. As of recently, colleagues started coming to me for advice and it turns out that I can often help them. I can’t completely keep it from crashing though 😉
I love creating things from scratch and love watching them grow every time you put in some effort. That’s why I’ve launched this site (and my company). When I learn something new I can now share it with everyone, instead of just the colleague that sits closest to me and that I absolutely have to tell. I want to create a knowledge base that grows bigger and better. That means I’ll edit my posts whenever they need improvement, so please send me your tips, requests or questions!
You can follow me on LinkedIn.
Keep on creating,
Peter
